Reviews for Brown: Grisaille in Sand and Sunset

Rainbow Reviews 3.5 stars Again, the main criticism is that it's too short (perhaps I should work harder on that!), amid many kind words.

Review excerpt:

This was an interesting short story that had a lot of theoretical implications that could have been explored further... The tale would have been better as a novel length study that would have given us more time with both main characters.

The writing was excellent... A very well thought out premise and two likable characters that just didn't have enough time with me to really give me a chance to get to know them.

Elisa Rolle (my very first review!) - Elisa does not provide a star-style rating, but she did write a lovely review.

Review excerpt:

It's not the first time that I read a fantasy romance regarding Angels and Demons, but usually they didn't effect me too much, I didn't find any fascination in them. Instead this short novel by Molly Church, only 29 pages, has the feeling of a longer novel and it appealed to me in a strange way.

Review excerpt:

A Hope in Hell takes a close look at Hell and finds beauty and love in that most desolate of all environments. This is a well-written short story, although somewhat esoteric in nature, and I found myself trying very hard to read between the lines to find a message. There is perhaps not a real message in the story, but rather an underlying feeling of hope and trust that brings the two main characters together... A Hope in Hell is a diverting and entertaining tale that might cause the reader to pause for just a moment or two.

Rainbow Reviews 3 stars - not the most enthusiastic review, but I can't be unhappy when the main criticism is that the reviewer would have liked it to be longer!

Review excerpt:

This is a rather short story, less than 30 pages. But this is not an uncommon characteristic of a Taste Test book from Torquere Press. The story is pretty nice and the characters are interesting with Yare'ach trying to cope with his new life in hell and the inhabitants of hell reacting to their new guest.

But the story is by far too short... and so when I read this story I couldn't help feeling pretty unsatisfied. But all in all this still is a good book.
